Angel's Landing, Zion National Park, Utah

May 3, 2017 - Mike Monyak and I climbed up and back from the Grotto early in the morning on a perfect blue-sky Utah day. Among the hundreds of people sharing this experience were a man named Glenn who had retired from the National Weather Service and was climbing Angel's Landing for the third time on his 74th birthday, a young Iranian man named Balbek who worked as an engineer for a large IT company, his first time climbing up Angel's Landing, and two infants held tight in their climbing parents' arms. The park service was doing a special digital mapping while we were there, holding up climbers both ways for quite some time, so much of the upper climb was bottle-necked with long queues of climbers. It was all good fun, however.
